2007-11-29 17:21:47

Four companies have submitted proposals to build new casinos in Sumner County, Kansas, it has been reported.

Sumner Gaming and Resorts and Chisholm Creek Casino Resort both wish to build casino near Mulvane, while Marvel Gaming and Penn Sumner wish to build on the Kansas Turnpike, close to Wellington, the Wichita Business Journal reported.

Marvel and Penn's developments have been estimated at costing $225 million.

Chisholm's bid is linked with casino giants MGM Mirage and Foxwoods Development, while Sumner's has links with Harrah's Entertainment - the world's largest gaming organisation.

Both of the Mulvane developments have given details about their size, with Chisolm proposing a 176-acre site with a 250-room hotel and 2,000 slot machines.

Sumner's proposal requires 90 acres.

The county had set a proposal deadline for Wednesday this week. It will make its decisions known on December 12th although the final decision will be made by a special committee.
