Free poker tournaments 'popular among bar-goers'

2007-11-26 14:40:50

Free poker tournaments are popular in Boulder, Colorado, a website has stated.

Discussing multiple free tournaments which occur at bars around the region, the Daily Camera quoted several regulars who had positive things to say about the sport.

One such player, Becca Korn, said of the tournaments: "I like the ones in Boulder because I know everyone here."

And it is not just the players who appear to be enjoying the games either - poker seems to be popular among the bar owners.

The manager of the Broker Bar Danette Randall said: "They've upped our bar business a lot."

Players are not allowed to pay to take part in the poker events because it would breach state gambling laws, however, there are still money prizes to be won.

Ms Korn won $150 after an October competition.

Famed for its appearance in the Stephen King novel The Stand, Boulder is the 11th biggest city in Colorado in terms of population.
