Wadhwa takes Nepal casino crown

2007-11-21 13:29:41

Indian Rakesh Wadhwa has won a legal fight that will make him the sole proprietor of Nepal's casino industry, it has been reported.

The New Delhi accountant has had his claim recognized by the Nepalese government following arbitration between him and ex-business partner Richard Doyle Tuttle, an American.

Wadhwa has been battling for 10 months, according to the Indo-Asian News Service, but is now firmly in control of the multi-million dollar industry, after being approved by the country's Registrar of Companies.

Tuttle is still pursuing legal claims in Hong Kong, but Wadwha's company Nepal Recreation Center believes that it will not make any difference.

Spokesperson for the company TR Bhatt said: "The casinos are in Nepal, not in Hong Kong.

"They are governed by Nepal's laws."

Among Nepal's casinos are Casino Everest, Casino Nepal, Casino Royale and Casino Rad.

Casinos have been allowed in the country since 1992.
