Pennsylvania's fledgling slot machine gambling market is earning millions of dollars for operators, new figures have shown.
Slots have only been allowed in the state for a year, yet it is already proving to be a lucrative business.
The Associated Press looked at the amount of money wagered on slots at six casinos and also reported on gross revenue statistics.
Making $178 million was the Mohegan Sun, which also saw $1.92 billion wagered.
Almost doubling those figures, however, was the Philadelphia Park Casino & Racetrack which made $257.2 million after $3.14 billion was gambled.
Despite opening a month after the Park Casino, Harrah's Chester Casino & Racetrack almost took as much money, making $245.9 million from the $2.87 billion staked.
The statistics were taken from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
Mywire reported last year that "Pennsylvania's slots legislation has given birth to a boom in horse breeding".
