Venetian Macao gets facial recognition system

2007-11-12 15:57:57

A facial recognition system from Bioscrypt has been installed at the Venetian Macao casino in Macau, China.

The largest building in Asia and also the world's largest gambling establishment, the Venetian will use VisionAccess 3D to scan all 12,000 of its staff every shift.

Bioscrypt's face-reading technology can filter workers in less than a second, according to info4 security.

Some 13 identifiers have been fixed to turnstiles placed at the casino's entrance and have now been operating for several weeks.

Fingerprint scanners, numbering 50, are also in place and use another Bioscrypt product - V-Smart.

The system integrator for the face readers is Solution Expert Technology, which is already used in numerous casinos around Macau.

With 3,000 suites, the Venetian claims that it is large enough to hold 90 Boeing 747 jumbo jets.

As well as the casino, it also contains a 15,000-seater arena, 30 restaurants, 350 shops and one million square feet of convention space.
