Macau Palace closed for repairs

2007-11-01 11:28:19

The Macau Palace casino has been closed for repairs, its management has announced.

Owned by Stanley Ho Hung Sun's SJM gambling organization, the famous floating betting destination will be sent to a port in order to get repaired.

SJM owns 17 casinos in Macau, according to the Xinhua News Agency, which has become the world's busiest gambling hotspot ahead of Las Vegas.

There are currently 27 casinos in the city with two more on the way by the end of the year.

In 2004, another Xinhua report revealed that Stanley Ho Hung Sun owned every casino in Macau.

Since then the city's gambling industry has expanded massively with both Wynn Resorts and MGM Mirage opening casinos there.

The Macau Palace is one of the smallest casinos in Macau, situated in the city's outer harbour.

A reviewer named kenbagro on tripadvisor.com said of it: "If you want to gamble, but are tired of the crowds in the bigger casinos, this is the casino for you."
