A women-only Texas Hold 'Em poker tournament has taken place at Isle Casino & Racing in Pompano Park, South Florida.
It was the first event of the High Heels Poker Tour (HHPT) and 103 female competitors turned up to compete.
The buy-in for the tournament was $250.
HHPT says that it offers a place for women to make their mark in poker and will take the women's game "to the next competitive level"
The South Florida Sun Sentinal reported on the tournament and cited two competitors who implied they liked the concept of women-only because playing with men can be "intimidating".
Rita Riddle had played online poker for several months but had played very few live tournaments, presumably because she felt more confident online.
Mindy Crown, who came around 50th, commented on how it can be unpleasant playing with men, saying: "Some men can be arrogant and abusive playing with women, you know, set in their ways."
