Trump Taj Mahal aims for renewal of fortunes

2007-10-02 15:45:45

The Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort has decided it must get its act together if it is to survive the growing competition in Atlantic City.

Chairman Donald Trump has said that because the casino faces plenty of new rivals, it is time for the Taj Mahal to market itself more successfully.

As recently as July, Mr Trump was looking for buyers for the Taj Mahal, as well as Trump Plaza Hotel and Trump Marina Hotel Casino.

But after a potential deal fell through, the casino knows it must refocus its energies on boosting revenue.

Mark Juliano, the newly-appointed chief executive at Trump Entertainment, told the Associated Press: "Our turnaround strategy has always been to identify our better customers and market to them.

"It's to try to get the company away from depending on the day-trip gambler as opposed to someone who wants to come for a two or three-day entertainment experience."

Mr Juliano has previously said that he plans to attract new customers and expand Trump Entertainment's player base.
