No shortage of Wyandotte casino offers

2007-09-27 15:46:18

Half a dozen proposals from five different developers to build casinos in Wyandotte County have been submitted.

It is has been reported that the highest bid is a $600 million proposal by Kansas Speedway and the Baltimore-based Cordish Company.

This particular plan envisions the creation of a casino and hotel, complete with shops and entertainment at 109th Street and Village West Parkway.

All the applicants will get a chance to showcase their bids between November 6th and 8th, as well as on December 6th, 7th and 8th.

Last week, an Indian tribe's proposal to build a $20 million casino in downtown Kansas City was supported by Wyandotte County.

Policy-makers voted 9-1 to allow the Wyandotte Nation of Oklahoma to build the casino as long as casino revenues are used to pay for emergency and municipal services.
