Claims that a casino in Melbourne in Australia allowed a problem gambler to lose million of dollars are to be contested in the Supreme Court.
Gold Coast property developer Harry Kakavas claims he lost AUS $30 million ($26 million) playing baccarat in a 14-month gambling spree despite a self-imposed gambling ban.
He alleges that the Crown casino lured him back via a VIP jet and with boxes of cash and he is now suing establishment for compensation.
The case echoes that of Iranian-born Behrouz Foroughi who voluntarily placed himself on an exclusion list at Star City Casino in Sydney but ended up suing for massive losses.
He claimed that security staff failed to enforce the list on more than 60 occasions and he subsequently lost AUS $600,000 playing roulette.
