Kansas City revenues up overall

2007-09-12 15:18:48

Casino revenues in Kansas City increased by 5.6 per cent in August to over $61 million, despite a 5.2 per cent fall in admissions, new figures have revealed.

The Isle of Capri Casino saw revenues fall to $6.9 million and admissions decline by 17.4 percent from last year, while Ameristar Kansas City Casino enjoyed an 8.8 percent revenue increase.

Argosy Casino posted a 16 percent increase in revenue to $15.8 million, while Harrah's North Kansas City Casino posted revenue of $16.9 million, down one per cent on 2006.

In other states, casino revenues were something of a mixed bag, suggesting that the casino industry has not managed to attract custom at a consistent level across the nation.

Revenue was up by 7.1 per cent and 1.4 percent in Illinois and Indiana respectively, but in Atlantic City, casinos saw their revenues drop by around six per cent in August as new establishments in Pennsylvania and Delaware increased their market share.

"The trend continues to be disappointing overall," said Andrew Zarnett of Deutsche Bank, New York, to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
