Southwest Casino releases mixed results

2007-08-16 17:30:39

Southwest Casino Corporation has announced a $64,000 loss over its last half-year period despite an increase in second quarter revenue.

The casino builder, owner and operator states its second quarter figures were "slightly up" on the same period last year, with revenue hitting $5.5 million.

However, it added that six-month revenue for the period ending June 2007 was $0.2 million down when compared to 2006 and that it suffered an overall loss.

Nevertheless, Jim Druck, chief executive officer at Southwest Casino, said the corporation was "excited" about future growth opportunities, specifically about the North Metro harness track and card club which is due to be renamed the Running Aces Harness Park.

"Construction of the facility is ahead of schedule due to the outstanding efforts of our team and seasonally dry weather," he said.

The chief executive also pointed out that a "substantial" amount of infrastructure work had been completed on the card room and racetrack.

Based in Minnesota, Minneapolis, Southwest Casino was originally founded in 1992.
