Tribe to build new casino in San Diego

2007-08-10 10:26:57

Plans to build a replacement casino in San Diego have been unveiled by the Pauma Band of Mission Indians.

The new resort will feature a spa, a 23-story 400-room hotel, an entertainment venue and slot machines.

"We're looking at a unique and quality facility, somewhere where people can feel the same comfort level they feel now in Casino Pauma," tribal chairman Chris Devers told the Union-Tribune.

Casino Pauma, the current but temporary structure, will be replaced by the new casino, although no date has been set as to when the official switchover will take place.

As part of the construction, improvements will be made to Route 76, such as turn lanes on the reservation road that leads to the casino.

The tribe opened Casino Pauma in May 2001, providing employment to the tribal members and the surrounding communities.
