NJ casinos to test electronic gamblers

2007-07-20 14:20:31

Electronic gambling machines which could replace human roulette and poker dealers are to be trialled at 11 casinos in New Jersey, it was announced this week.

Atlantic City is to roll out a pilot scheme after the Casino Control commission gave it the go-ahead, reports the Associated Press.

It is hoped that the move will catch up with gambling outlets in nearby Delaware and Pennsylvania, where the machines are already in use.

And while this electronic type of system will not fully replace existing methods in Atlantic City, Spectrum Gaming Group managing director Michael Pollock said it could "serve as a bridge" between table and slots games.

He added that electronic games were sometimes less intimidating than their table counterparts and can help newer players get used to the games.

Fans of the New Jersey city may know that it includes resorts such as the Trump Marina and the Tropicana.
