Meadows Racetrack & Casino opens its door to gamblers

Meadows Racetrack & Casino in Pennsylvania officially opened this morning after a week's delay due to security issues.

The recent postponement of test nights and the grand opening were attributed to "final enhancements" that need to be made to the casino's security system.

However, after successful tests over the weekend, a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 08:45 local time, making it the fifth casino that is open for business in Pennsylvania.

"Our construction team has done a tremendous job of building a first-class casino from the ground up in only six short months," said Bill Paulos, principal of the venue's owner Cannery Casino Resorts.

"Progress has been unbelievable, so delaying our opening a few days to make sure everything is ready [was] the right thing to do."

The event attracted hundred of people, eager to get their hands on the casino's 1,738 slot machines inside.

Proceeds from the test dates went to the Greater Washington County Food Bank and the Washington Hospital.
