Trump casino firm receives bids

2007-05-18 17:08:11

Trump Entertainment has said that it has received preliminary bid offers from potential buyers.

The firm made the announcement but did not reveal any more details of the bids, which come following the company's decision to hire Merrill Lynch analysts to consider its future movements in the market.

That move back in March has been followed by ever-increasing speculation regarding a sale, with resorts in Atlantic City likely to be under threat either way.

"The general consensus about Trump is that they need to improve the quality of their properties. The Trump organization has just been hamstrung by their financial situation, and has not been able to keep up and reinvest in their properties to the extent of many of the other license holders," advised Deloitte and Touche analyst Wade McKnight, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Trump Entertainment currently owns three casinos in Atlantic City &ndash the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, Trump Plaza and Trump Marina.
