Betting limits increased in Florida

2007-05-14 17:20:00

Gamblers in Florida will be able to increase their betting stakes from July 1st after a bill passed through the state's House and Senate, it has been revealed.

Previously the maximum betting limit had been $2 with just three raises per round, but new legislation will see this rise to $5, pending approval from the state governor.

No-limit Texas Hold'Em will also be allowed with buy-ins of up to $100, though plans to increase opening hours were not followed up on.

There had been speculation that cardrooms would be able to remain open for 24 hours a day, but ultimately the cap remained at the original 12 hour per day limit, online-casinos.com has reported.

"I think my approach to it is to see what passes and then have a chance to evaluate it," governor Crist commented on the forthcoming changes last month.
