2007-04-20 16:15:41

Developers of the new Riverwalk casino told the Mississippi Gaming commission that work had begun on its proposed Vicksburg project.

The casino should feature 800 slot machines and 20 game tables, as well as a Star Club for VIP guests, retail shops and restaurants.

The budget for the project is set at around $100 million, and is expected to be opened to the public in July of next year.

The building will also profit from expansive views of the Mississippi river by building a promenade along its side.

The Riverwalk is one of three casino projects currently planned for development in the Vicksburg area; it could end up with as many as seven in the near future.

Nearby Lakes gaming casino will is set to be the biggest in the area at $200 million and 1,500 slot machines.

Chicago-based Lamb partners are the majority stakeholders in the Riverwalk.
