Poland to introduce online gambling licences

The government of Poland is to follow a fast-emerging trend in the online gambling world and allow a regulated online gambling service, it has been suggested.
The Warsaw Voice newspaper has said that the government has decided to act and also commented on a recent landmark betting decision made by the European Court of Justice.
The court ruled that betting firms licenced in one EU member state may legitimately provide services in other member states.
Online-Casinos.com now reports that Poland will be pursuing regulatory practices along Italian lines, though it is not clear how the EU decision will affect the plans.
The Polish finance ministry is currently looking at amending the country's gambling laws, the Warsaw Voice advises.
In 2004 a number of gambling firms criticised the ministry for not implementing new favourable laws quickly enough.
The Polish capital, Warsaw, has previously been the location for the Central and eastern European Conference on Gambling.
