Elvis' army uniform on show for casino opening

2007-03-28 14:38:26

The new Hard Rock Biloxi casino is celebrating its opening with a special display of Elvis' army uniform.

B B King's original guitar "Lucille" will also be on display alongside a number of other rock artefacts when the casino finally opens for business on July 7th.

The arrival of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005 destroyed the Hard Rock casino building just two days before it was due to be opened and lead to the loss of a number of irreplaceable items but luckily a few were saved from the Mississippi coast line.

It is hoped that the new launch will begin a change in fortunes for the local region, explained Joe Billhimer, the casino's chief executive officer.

"It's a big deal for us to get back open, but we do think it's also a big deal for people on the coast to see it back open," Mr Billhimer told the Sun Herald.

"It keeps revitalisation going. It shows that we and a lot of others believe in the revitalisation of the coast."
