Two Nevada politicians are thought to be close to unveiling legislation detailing an extensive study of the possibility of regulating online gambling in the US, it has been revealed.
Representatives Shelly Berkley and Jon Porter will co-sponsor the enquiry, it has been reported, in a bipartisan effort to mobilise a less prohibitive consensus on the gambling industry.
The National Academy of Sciences would conduct the proposed research as a way of avoiding political infighting, Online-Casinos.com reports.
"This actually is a very independent institution which has the resources to get the facts to congress," Porter said.
"The purpose of our bill is to provide a comprehensive study with detailed information on the expanded growth of internet gambling," added Berkley.
.Earlier this year eCogra published the world's largest ever study of online gambling, surveying around 11,000 players from 96 countries across the globe. The study assessed opinions from 37 separate employment sectors and included 85 questions for respondents to answer.
