Relevance of 2007 GIGSE called into question

2007-03-12 17:13:17

The 2007 Global Interactive Gaming Summit and Expo (GIGSE) may not be the major event on the worldwide gambling calendar that it once was, it has been suggested.

Website Gambling911.com reports that growing concern surrounding the future of gambling in North America could jeopardise the event's status, with other events such as the ICEi conference, held in London this January, fast becoming more prominent.

The website also reports that the Alderney Gambling jurisdiction has similarly questioned the importance of the GIGSE event.

"We have not yet confirmed our level of participation at GIGSE for this year, it has always been a great event but with the recent issues in the US we are not that certain how popular it will be at this time," said head of e-commerce development Robin Le Provost, according to Gambling911.com.

The 2007 GIGSE is currently scheduled to be held in Montreal, Canada, from June 5th to June 7th.
