An investigation into the effects of the de facto online gambling ban in the US has led an FBI agent to claim that such activities were growing by billions of dollars each year.
Speaking to KTVB, a television station in Boise, Idaho, agent Patrick Kiernan said that "the FBI estimates that it's growing at a rate of $10 billion a year".
The approximation reveals that despite attempts to prohibit online gambling in America, the industry is nonetheless still popular with the country's citizens.
A growing number of groups are in favour of legalising online gambling in the country once more, including the Poker Players' Alliance (PPA) and the Association of Players, Casinos and Webmasters (APCW).
Last week the APCW revealed that it had begun a working partnership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Webcom Network in an effort to find a way to introduce a workable charitable online gaming system.
