New e-wallet payment system launched

2007-02-23 16:36:08

A new e-wallet payment service has been launched, filling a gap in the market left by Neteller, it has been revealed.

Officials claim that YouTeller will be a "community based processor", initially only open to users who signed up during an earlier pre-launch period.

Run by Seed Capital, the service will have a single transaction limit of €150 in an effort to avoid problems posed by gambling fixations and organised betting rings and other criminal activity.

"Our target audience is people who play community-orientated online games like poker, chess or role-playing games. People who need instant and worldwide payment processing," said spokesman Florian Schweitzer.

"Our servers could not handle the traffic if we open our doors for a public sign up. But it is our first priority to provide our customers with a stable service and a reliable support," Mr Schweitzer added.

Shares in Neteller have been suspended since its founders were arrested in the US last month, with many gamblers' money left in limbo as a result.
