IGCE 2007 to be held in Mexico

2007-02-08 16:13:33

This year's first International Gaming Conference and Expo (IGCE) will be held in Mexico, it has been announced.

The twice-yearly event will travel to Cancun, Mexico for a conference to be held from May 7th to May 9th, with conference officials confirming that the occasion will continue to focus on future developments within the industry.

Asia, an increasingly prominent target for a number of gambling companies, will be among the topics discussed at future events, a senior IGCE official commented.

And the conference itself could soon be held in the region as part of an attempt to boost market penetration across the continent.

"We focused on securing locales for North America and Europe for 2007, with an eye cast in the direction of yet another in the Far East for 2008, venues that would be our destinations for at least the next three years," said IGCE assistant director of conferences Cynthia Pagano.

Ms Pagano added that Bangkok, Thailand was the likely setting for the first 2008 event, with Prague set to host 2007's second conference.

The IGCE has in the past been known for mixing serious discussion with more leisurely activities, such as a mid-conference poker tournament.
