Fishburne and Spacey sign up for new blackjack film

2007-01-26 16:11:51

Matrix star Laurence Fishburne is to team up with Kevin Spacey for a new film about the world of blackjack, it has been suggested.

Fishburne, whose screen credits include Mission Impossible: III and Mystic River, is in talks to start in 21, a Las Vegas thriller involving a casino swindle led by Kevin Spacey.

Spacey will play a lecturer who encourages six of his students to use a counting cards strategy to take millions of dollars from Las Vegas casinos.

The con trick is based on a true story, as outlined in the bestselling book Bringing Down the House &ndash The Inside Story of Six MIT Students who Took Vegas for Millions.

Spacey will also produce the film, which it is understood has been a pet project of the actor's for some time.

Previous Hollywood representations of gambling have included the Matt Damon vehicle Rounders and Robert Altman's 1974 film California Split.
