Gamblers who visit online casinos and poker rooms are more concerned about being entertained than they are about winning money, a new report has revealed.
The much-anticipated online gambling survey from eCommerce Online Gambling Regulation and Assurance (eCogra) was announced at the International Casino Exhibition in London in front of assembled industry executives.
The study, the biggest ever conducted, assessed over 11,000 players from across 96 countries, and was carried out by the betting and international gaming research unit at Nottingham Trent University.
Findings included the fact that "convenience and accessibility" alongside "fun and excitement" were ranked as the best things about gambling online, ahead of any financial successes.
Conversely, the financial downside of losing was not-unexpectedly revealed as the worst aspect of the study.
Customer service was of a level equivalent to the best offline companies, even in cases when a dispute had arisen, the majority of respondents said. Almost two thirds of those surveyed said they always played at the biggest name casinos, with 70 per cent revealing that they looked for well known software providers or other assurances of quality.
