New technologies and the potential for further expansion have been at the forefront of discussions at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E), the world's largest gaming tradeshow and conference, it has been announced.
Senior figures from the gaming industry, including chairman of the British Gambling Commission, Peter Dean, and MGM Mirage chairman Terry Lanni, agreed that continued technological advances would have a marked effect on the industry's future.
"With server-based gaming, we're moving from a stand-alone environment to a network environment," said International Game Technology chief executive TJ Matthews.
"New technologies such as this need to take into account what customers are looking for and how this new environment can deliver an improved entertainment experience," Mr Matthews continued.
With technologies such as RFID tracking ensuring that casinos know what every player is doing at every table, and internet gambling also continuing to expand, conference attendees were excited about the future.
However, it was also emphasized that the customer experience came first, with advancements unlikely to be widely adopted unless they benefited casino patrons.
