World Poker Tour hosts back to back events at Fallsview casino

2006-10-20 17:00:00

A new stop on the World Poker Tour has been added, and this time it is in Canada.

The first Canadian WPT stop will take place at the Fallsview Casino/Resort, Niagara Falls, between October 22nd and 24th this year.

The resort in Ontario will host the WPT Canadian Open Championship and the WPT North American Poker Championship (October 25th-28th) this month, with both contests televised. The direct buy-ins for the WPT Canadian Open Championship have already sold out.

Top Canadian players Daniel Negreanu, Gavin Smith, and Isabelle Mercier will join 297 others from Canada and the United States at the inaugural WPT Canadian Open.

Steve Lipscomb, CEO and founder of WPT Enterprises, commented: "It is certainly fitting that these three, who have risen to prominence on the WPT, are coming home to pay tribute to the millions of Canadian poker fans who have watched them become worldwide celebrities on their TV sets."

Fallsview Casino Resort is situated on a cliff overlooking the Horseshoe Falls and features a casino with over 3,000 slot machines, 142 gaming tables, a 1,500-seat showroom and a luxury hotel.
