Neteller issues warning over phishers

Neteller, the online money payment and transfer service, has warned consumers of a new phishing scam that has been perpetrated against its customers this week.

The company, which transfers money on behalf of a number of online gaming sites, has claimed that a criminal has set up a fake Neteller site in an attempt to gain access to customer account details.

It is believed that thousands of new users have been receiving emails which say that a Neteller representative would be calling them to confirm their personal details.

As is the case in many phishing scams, users are also directed away to a fake website where unsuspecting customers are lured into entering their account details.

Those responsible for the scam are thought to be operating outside of the US and UK.

Neteller is urging customers only to use the official domain name when getting in contact with the firm.
