US turns to online gaming

2006-07-10 15:45:00

An increasing number of US citizens appear to be turning to the internet for their gambling, according to a new report.

Figures released by Harris Interactive revealed that as many as 59 per cent of Americans have not visited a casino in the last 12 months, suggesting that more people are choosing to gamble online rather than going out to a casino.

And over half of those polled (51 per cent) went on to state that they do not intend to visit a casino in the next year either.

At the same time, online gambling has boomed in the past few years and the number of people now playing games online is at an all-time high and continuing to grow.

The gaming world has been revolutionized by the internet and it appears that many people would now prefer their home environment to that of a casino, favoring playing online when and where they desire.
