Caribbean Stud Poker (single player)

Rule Authority:

InterCasino's Caribbean Stud Poker is played and programmed according to Atlantic City Poker rules.

Authority:

New Jersey Casino Control Commission.

Rule Exceptions:

The payoff for a Royal Flush is 200:1 instead of 100:1.

Premise:

Caribbean Stud Poker is a favorite in the Caribbean as well as aboard cruise ships. Each player plays against the dealer and not other players. After you have placed your own ante your cards are dealt and at this point in the game you are able to choose whether to bet or surrender.

If you place a bet and if the dealer's hand qualifies (if it contains an Ace/King combination or better), your hand will then be compared to the dealer's. If you win, your payoff will be determined by the total of your hand. For information on payoffs please see the payoff table below. If you do surrender, you will lose your ante to the dealer and the hand will then end.

How to Play:

Betting:

All players begin by placing an ante, which is done by selecting the amount of chips you want to place from the chip console at the bottom of the screen. Your ante is then shown in the 'bet' field in the 'player information box'. The maximum ante cannot exceed 1/3 of your current balance or $300. This amount may be increased or decreased by placing the mouse on the chip of the desired denomination and clicking the left mouse button to increase the bet and the right mouse button to decrease it. Each time you click the chips will be added or taken away from your planned wager amount. To begin the hand, you have to place an ante in the 'ante' space of your playing area by clicking on the left button on the desired wager amount. If you place a wager lower than the minimum table bet limit, your bet amount will then be automatically adjusted to the minimum bet amount.

To be able to qualify for the Bonus Jackpot you must place a $1 bonus bet. To do this you must click on the flashing chip holder that is above the 'ante' space. You may place a bonus bet as long as the lights that are surrounding the chip holder are flashing. You can place your bonus bet before or after you place your ante, but it must be done before playing your hand. The size of the jackpot increases with every bet, and the current jackpot level is displayed at the left-hand or right-hand side of the screen depending on the position you are seated in.

After placing your ante and optional bonus bet, you can then click on the 'deal' button and you will be dealt five cards. The dealer then also receives four cards face down and the fifth card facing up. At this point in the game you can either bet if you think that you can win or surrender if you feel that your hand is not large enough to win. If you then choose to surrender, you will lose your ante to the dealer and the hand will then end. To surrender you must click on the 'surrender' button.

If you choose to bet, your bet will then be equal to twice the amount of your ante. Your total wager then is equal to three times your ante, which is made up of your initial ante and your bet. The dealer then shows his cards, and then he will either qualify or he will fail too qualify. If the dealer does not have an ace/king combination or better within his hand he will fail to qualify. The dealer must have at least a pair if he does not have both an ace and a king.

If the dealer fails to qualify he will then receive a 1 to 1 payoff on your ante and the bet will be returned to you, even if your hand is lower than the dealers. If the dealer does qualify however, his hand will then be compared to your own, and if the dealer's hand beats your hand you will lose your ante ad your bet (which is three times the ante amount).

If your hand and the dealer's hand is both equal no money will be exchanged. However, if you hand beats the dealer's hand you will win even money (1to1) on your ante, as well as a payoff on your bet based on the quality of your hand (see tables below).

If both you and the dealer have the same hand (e.g. your hands both contain pairs), then the winner is the one with the highest ranking cards. If the dealer has a pair, for example jack, jack, ten, six and five and the player has one pair hand of jack, jack, ten, eight and four, then the player wins. The original ante and bet in addition to any winnings are displayed as separate piles of chips.
