Red Dog
Rule Authority:
InterCasino's Red Dog is played and programmed according to Atlantic City Gaming rules.
Authority:
New Jersey Casino Control Commission.
Rule Exception:
None.
Premise:
The objective of the Red Dog game is to predict the value of randomly selected card, and whether its value is between those of the two previously drawn cards by the dealer. Within this game, the value of any card from 2 to 10 is its face value, a jack counts as 11, a queen is 12, a king is 13 and an aces is valued at 14. A deck of 52 cards is used, and the cards are shuffled by the dealer after each round of play.
How to Play:
This game is played on a table that is similar to that of a Blackjack table.
Betting:
Players must begin by making a wager and selecting the amount of chips that they wish to bet from the bottom of the casino game window. Your total bet is then displayed in the Player Information Box, and may be increased or decreased by placing your mouse on the stack that want to add or subtract to your bet. Every time you click the left mouse button you will add a chip from that pile to your wager amount. Similarly, by clicking on the right mouse button you can decrease your planned wager amount.
After a wager has been placed, the player must click on the 'DEAL' button and the dealer then draws 2 cards and places them face up onto the table. A Red Dog is then also placed on the table, which indicates the spread between the two cards that the dealer has drawn. If the dealer draws out a non-consecutive hand then the player can decide whether they wish to double their wager by clicking on the 'RAISE' button. If this is the case, a third card is then drawn. If the dealer draws out a pair hand or a consecutive hand however, then a third card will not be drawn. The details pertaining to these three different scenarios are then described below.
Pair Hand:
A pair hand only occurs when the dealer draws out two cards that are of the same value (e.g two kings). When this happens to the dealer will automatically draw out a third card. If the third card is then of the same value of the previous cards then all players win with a payoff of 11:1. If however, the value of the third card is different from the last two cards, then the hand is declared as a push and the player's original wager is returned back to them.
Consecutive Hand:
If the value of the two cards that are drawn by the dealer are consecutive (e.g 5 and 6 or king and queen) then this is called a consecutive hand. If this is the case, the dealer will not deal out a third card, and the hand is called a push. The player's original wager is then returned.
Non-Consecutive Hand:
The majority of Red Dog hands are Non-Consecutive. When the dealer draws two cards that are not either consecutive or of the same value, this is a non-consecutive hand. If this is the case the dealer will announce the spread between the two cards drawn, and place a Red Dog on the table displaying the spread. The spread is the number of value that fall between the values of the two cards that were drawn by the dealer. In Example, if the two cards drawn by the dealer were a 2 and a jack, the spread is then eight, as there are eight values between them (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10).
When the dealer announces the spread and it is marked by the Red Dog, the players then have the option to make a raise wager, which is equal to the amount of their original wager. Players can do this by clicking on the 'RAISE' button before the dealer draws the third card. Player can however, stand on their original wager by clicking on the 'STAND' button. Once the player has clicked to either raise or stand then the dealer draws the third card.
The players win if the third card's value falls between the values of the two cards that were originally drawn by the dealer. However, if the third card drawn is identical to either of their first two cards the bet is lost. There is never a push within non-consecutive hands.
Payoffs:
All of the winning and raise wagers within non-consecutive hands are then paid at odds that are determined by the spread:
| Spread | Payoffs |
|---|---|
| 1 | 5:1 |
| 2 | 4:1 |
| 3 | 2:1 |
| 4-11 | 1:1 |
Betting Limits:
$5 minimum bet.
$300 maximum bet.
